Arctic Landscapes Hike

Small Group max 6 persons - Hiking / Snowshoeing Tour - 4x4 Vehicle

THE TOUR FOR WHO LOVES TO BE IN NATURE - away from the roads

Do you like hiking, snowshoeing, getting to that view point up there and enjoy the scenery?
This tour will take you into the Arctic wonders, for an unforgettable experience!

On board a 4x4 Toyota Land Cruiser Arctic Truck, we will reach some of the most beautiful areas that Tromsø region has to offer. There is no fixed itinerary: based on weather conditions we will either head towards the narrow fjords of the coastal islands like Kvaløya or to the backcountry sceneries of the mainland. Vistas are guaranteed, no matter which way we'll go!
Once left the roads we will venture for a scenic, easy to moderate hike (depending on the overall level of fitness of the group), reaching pristine landscapes, mountain lakes and breathtaking views. When ice and snow cover the ground (typically from November onward), you will be provided with ice crampons or snowshoes (snow rackets) and walking poles, as well as hand and foot warmers. Remember to have your own waterproof hiking boots (snow boots from November onward) and adequate waterproof pants and jacket. The tour goes ahead in most weather, as long as safe conditions are there!
Your guide will take photos of you and the landscape, but if you have a camera as well, do bring it along! An outdoor picnic with a view, eating a warm expedition soup, cookies and hot drinks, will warm us up while out in the wild, leaving in you a meaningful memory of your Arctic journey.

What to expect from the tour and the gear provided:

There is something special about being out in Nature. Whether on a sunny or a stormy day, surrounded by the vibrant autumn colours or by the endless white of the snowy winter, the connection with the raw elements is one of the most powerful healing things for us human beings.

In Norwegian we say “There’s not such a thing as bad weather, only bad clothing” and “Out on a tour, never grumpy”. You don’t need to have previous experience with snowshoes, it’s very easy to use them.

Let the Arctic winds take your thoughts away, the wild landscapes fill your eyes of joy, the energy from physical activity stimulate your endorphins, and set off for a fun time out there!

The vehicle used to get to the hiking locations, an Arctic Trucks Toyota Land Cruiser. This beast of a 4x4 has the main purpose of being very flexible in finding parking places no matter if they have been cleared from the snow or not.

Depending on the weather and ground conditions, your guide will choose a suitable and safe hike, considering also the average fitness level of the group. You must be in good physical shape and comfortable in walking on uneven terrain!

When winter settles in, we’ll use snow rackets (also called snowshoes), a sort of wide platform that straps over your own boots and allows you to walk on deep snow without sinking. When the ground will be very icy, you’ll get ice cleats instead.
